This handmade Kashmiri pashmina shawl is woven from the soft inner-coat wool of the Changthangi goat, raised in the high-altitude meadows of Ladakh and Kashmir. Each thread is hand-spun on a traditional charkha, then woven on a wooden handloom over several weeks by master weavers in Srinagar. Once off the loom, the shawl passes to a sozni embroidery artisan, who hand-stitches a fine border of walnut-toned paisleys using a single-strand needle technique that can take 30–60 days to complete. The finished piece is exceptionally light — almost weightless in the hand — yet remarkably warm, with the signature soft drape that pashmina is loved for. The cream base is versatile enough to layer over a saree at a wedding, a kurta at a festive evening, or a tailored coat through winter. Like all true pashminas, it improves with age, softening further with each wear and becoming an heirloom you can pass on.
